Wireless Standards Engineer / Sr. Wireless Standards Engineer
Description of duties:
A successful candidate, first of all, should be a great communicator (both in written and verbal) and confident technologist who can partner with other members of Amicus' R&D organization throughout the course of a product development cycle. The candidate should be a proficient problem solver having genuine interests in carrying out technical investigations, prototyping ideas, evaluating performance/functionalities, and performing formal proceedings in wireless standard bodies. Ideally, he/she should be able to provide technical advice and guidance internally that are necessary to complete an Amicus product acceptable by its customers or an Amicus technology to facilitate its adoption by external organizations, based on thorough examination and understanding complex requirements demanded by wireless standards.
Additional responsibilities anticipated are:
- Provide internal management to more than one standards development projects capable of technical contributions to internationally recognized standard bodies.
- Interpret, analyze, and convert abstract standards and requirements into detailed and feasible product specifications.
- Carry out product certification-related duties.
- Support business development and marketing activities with respect to standards-related issues.
- Provide technical support to Amicus' existing/potential customers and strategic partners to mitigate problems in deploying Amicus products and technologies.
Qualifications:
- MS with 5+ years of technical experience or PhD in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science with focus on wireless communications, mobile networks, and systems.
- Demonstrated working knowledge, experience, and concentration in OFDM, MIMO, and other state-of-the-art wireless technologies is a strong plus.
- Experience in participating wireless standards activities and technical proceedings such as IEEE 802.11/16, WiMAX Forum, and 3GPP highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience in implementing wireless modems and/or communication protocols will be highly valued.
- Solid presentation and documentation abilities.
- Comfortable traveling worldwide and US cities to participate standards meetings.
